Who is a Makhosi, you ask?

In South Africa, the word Makhosi is used to address healers as a sign of respect. It can also be used to honor the healers’ ancestors. Makhosi is similar to the words “doctor” and “father,” which are used to address healers and priests, respectively.

I was not born a Makhosi; my life has humble beginnings. Life has surely thrown me in different directions, and it took me decades to realign myself with the path I am currently on.

I was born and raised in sunny South Africa. At the age of nine, I gave my first prophecy in a church, guided and aided by my Great-grandmother, who practised spirituality. My skills have progressively developed ever since.

Fifteen years ago, I took my family to the rural parts of Africa in the region of KwaZulu-Natal, where we lived with animals: snakes, wildlife, and everything that creeps and crawls. This was to study the ways of an Inyanga — the essence of becoming a true shaman. Inyanga is a spiritual healer specializing in herbalism.

I acquired vast knowledge by learning old-world experiential homeopathic practices and herbalism. In the process, I evolved into a Sangoma, which further led me to become a Makhosi, mastering various divination practices under the guidance of traditional mentors. I combined these practices with my studies in modern applied psychology to better aid those in need.

Today, my journey has led me back to my tribe. The Zulu Cultural Tribe of South Africa has continued to aid and support me in my spiritual journey.
